NEW ORLEANS, LA — In a city full of Spas, the Olde Victorian Inn and Spa, 914 North Rampart Street, has taken the state's first leap into the Destination Day Spa Market. For over 15 years the Olde Victorian Inn provided luxury accommodations. A favorite among travelers, the Inn also was awarded BEST BREAKFAST from Frommers 2003 Travel Guide.

And now, with the addition of Miss Celie's Spa Orléans, visitors to the city can absorb the charm of New Orleans while their body absorbs the pampering that only a luxury Spa can provide. "The Olde Victorian Inn oozes New Orleans charm," said AAA's Senior Tourism Editor Braxton LeCroy during a recent inspection.

In addition to the five B&B guestrooms, the on-site spa includes manicure, pedicure, massage, facials, body treatments and hair styling. Clients rest and relax in the building's lush private courtyard prior to their services."

"Our desire after visiting some the nation's top spas was to make New Orleans a destination for the Spa traveler. Very few places in New Orleans understand that the surroundings make the experience," said Keith West-Harrison, one of the owners.

There is no other place that can be as opulent as the Olde Victorian Inn's 1840's restored French Quarter mansion. While Miss Celie's is small, all the comforts are included in the experience. The Victorian surroundings boast the best spaces for the individual treatments. The owners did all the design work to emphasize the Victorian era. A tented ceiling hangs above the massage table, a small indoor French Quarter cottage is the backdrop for the manicure table and the Pedispa.

"We don't rush. What we want is a complete experience from your glass of wine upon arrival to your final good bye after your hour long manicure," said Andre West-Harrison, the other owner. Research into the history of the French Quarter building showed addition of the Spa actually returned the building to it past.

"Back in 1883, Miss Celie Brune, a lively Creole woman, pampered New Orleans' socialites at her Maison de Beaute. The salon was located in a parlor of 914 N. Rampart St., the Rooming House owned by Mlle. Lizzy Agnes Francais. Lizzy, the eccentric widow of an indigo baron, spent most of her life traveling. It was during these journeys, with Miss. Celie as her nursemaid, that they discovered the great European Spas. Returning to New Orleans, they recreated those opulent surroundings in the home she was given by Lucien Mansion, a free man of color. A luxurious way to relax and refresh one's appearance, she attracted many of the prominent Storyville Madams. The building was bequeathed to Miss Celie in 1890 by Lizzy upon her death. Reborn, Miss Celie's Spa Orléans, again pampers her clientele in the Grand French Quarter Manor."

The Spa's Manager is a five-month old American Bulldog puppy named Sadie Chanel. She spends her time entertaining guests and hanging out under the desk or in the courtyard.
